Why Kerala is the Perfect Getaway from Bangalore
If you live in Bangalore, Kerala is your closest paradise. Kochi is just a 1-hour flight or a 10-hour drive away. That means you can leave Bangalore on a Friday evening and wake up in the misty tea gardens of Munnar on Saturday morning.
Kerala offers everything Bangalore does not — cool hill stations without the Ooty crowds, backwater houseboats, wildlife sanctuaries, and beaches where you can actually relax. And because the distances within Kerala are short (3–5 hours between destinations), you can cover a lot even in a 4–5 day trip.
This guide covers every way to get from Bangalore to Kerala, the best itineraries, and how to book a cab that handles the entire trip.
How to Reach Kerala from Bangalore
Option 1: Flight to Kochi (Recommended)
- Duration: 1 hour
- Airlines: IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, Akasa — multiple daily flights
- Cost: ₹2,500–5,000 one way (book 2–3 weeks ahead for best fares)
- Airport: Cochin International Airport (COK)
This is the fastest and most popular option. Land at Kochi, your cab picks you up at arrivals, and you head straight to Munnar, Alleppey, or Thekkady. No fatigue, no wasted day on the road.
We offer Kochi airport taxi service — driver waits at arrivals with a name board.
Option 2: Flight to Trivandrum
- Duration: 1.5 hours
- Best if: You want to start with Kovalam beach, Varkala, or Kanyakumari
Fewer direct flights than Kochi but good connections via IndiGo and Air India. Choose this if your itinerary starts in south Kerala.
Option 3: Drive from Bangalore
- Distance: 560 km to Kochi / 730 km to Trivandrum
- Duration: 9–10 hours to Kochi / 12–13 hours to Trivandrum
- Route: Bangalore → Hosur → Krishnagiri → Salem → Coimbatore → Palakkad → Kochi (NH 44 + NH 544)
The drive is entirely on national highways — well-maintained, good rest stops, 3–4 toll plazas. Many Bangalore families prefer driving because it gives flexibility to stop at Coimbatore or even detour to Ooty on the way.
We offer Bangalore to Kochi cab service for this route — experienced highway drivers, overnight travel available.
Option 4: Overnight Drive
Leave Bangalore at 10–11 PM, reach Kochi by 7–8 AM. Sleep in the car, save a hotel night. Our drivers are experienced in overnight highway driving on this route. Mandatory rest breaks at Salem (halfway point).

Bangalore to Kerala by Cab — Why It Works
Many Bangalore families book a cab for the entire Kerala trip instead of flying. Here is why:
- Door-to-door: Pickup from your Bangalore address, drop back at your door
- No luggage limits: Families with kids carry a lot. No airline restrictions
- Flexible stops: Visit Coimbatore, detour to Ooty, stop at Palakkad fort — your call
- Group savings: For 4–6 passengers, a cab costs about the same as individual flights + airport transfers
- One vehicle, entire trip: No rebooking at each city. Same driver from Bangalore to Bangalore
- Overnight travel: Leave at night, wake up in Kerala. Save a hotel night
Vehicle Options
- Sedan (Swift Dzire): Couples or 2 adults + 1 child. Budget-friendly
- SUV (Innova Crysta): Families of 4–6. Best for long drives and hill roads. Extra luggage space
- Tempo Traveller (12-seater): Groups, college trips, family reunions
Bangalore to Wayanad (Alternative Route)
Not everyone wants to go south. Wayanad is Kerala's northern hill district and much closer to Bangalore:
- Distance: 280 km from Bangalore
- Duration: 6 hours via Mysore and Gundlupet
- Route: Bangalore → Mysore → Gundlupet → Sultan Bathery → Kalpetta
Wayanad offers trekking (Chembra Peak), ancient caves (Edakkal), waterfalls (Soochipara), and wildlife safaris. It is a great 3–4 day trip from Bangalore without going deep into Kerala.
You can also combine: Bangalore → Wayanad (2N) → Ooty (2N) → Bangalore. A hill station circuit.
Best Time to Visit Kerala from Bangalore
- October–March: Best season. Pleasant weather everywhere. Munnar is cold at night (10–15°C). Book early — this is peak season
- April–May: Hot in the plains but hill stations are comfortable. Good houseboat deals. Bangalore IT crowd's favourite time
- June–September: Monsoon. Lush green Kerala, dramatic waterfalls, but heavy rain. Some activities may close. Ghat roads need experienced drivers
Long weekends are gold for Bangalore travellers — Republic Day, Holi, Good Friday, Karnataka Rajyotsava, Christmas. Book cabs 1–2 weeks ahead for these dates.
Tips for Bangalore Travellers
- Book flights early for long weekends — Bangalore to Kochi fills up fast
- Friday evening flight + Monday return gives you a solid 4-day Kerala trip
- Carry a light jacket for Munnar even in summer — it gets cold at night
- UPI works everywhere in Kerala but carry some cash for small shops
- Kerala food is different from Karnataka food — rice-based, coconut-heavy. Try appam, puttu, and Kerala fish curry
- Kannada won't help much — but English works perfectly in all tourist areas. Your cab driver will speak English or Hindi
- Combine with Ooty if driving — Coimbatore is on the Bangalore–Kochi route, and Ooty is just 90 km from Coimbatore
